Effecting Change

Background

Our client was combining and consolidating services due to budgetary constraints and wanted support for managing this change for staff within the council as their knowledge needed enhancing. Our scope also included supporting suppliers providing services to the council, through the change.

What we did

We were engaged to conduct a review of the council’s existing business change approach as well as supporting delivery of an improved business change approach.

Before starting, we developed and implemented a stakeholder management and engagement plan that identified all stakeholders involved in the change.

We carried out an end-to-end review of the existing business change approach, holding workshops with Senior leaders and SMEs and documented the suggested improvements to the existing business change approach.

We conducted a change impact assessment to identify the impact of the proposed changes on customers, staff and suppliers.

We carried out a training needs analysis to identify mentoring, training and development needs as a result of the changes being implemented.

We compiled a training and development plan and delivered mentoring, training and development interventions for council leaders and teams.

We developed change readiness criteria for the council to confirm the business was ready for the change and developed people readiness criteria to confirm the people were ready for the change.

We facilitated partner workshops for the suppliers to help them to understand and embrace the changes.

The Result

Following the mentoring, training and development interventions, 85% of senior managers rated themselves as more equipped for leading the changes and 95% of the teams rated themselves as having the tools to deliver the changes successfully. All of the change readiness criteria for the business and people were met prior to implementation of the changes.
